What's Driving GBP/CHF Today

◦ GBP/CHF has put in an impressive rally since March

◦ That is a symptom of the franc being one of the bigger losers of the war in the Middle East

◦ That's surprising as it is usually considered a 'safe haven'

◦ HSBC says underperformance is due to a recent negative correlation with oil

◦ "We believe that episodes of oil prices are leaving the CHF's low yield exposed as 1y1m CHF OIS has only moved c45bp higher since 27 February compared to a G10" - HSBC.

◦ Recent resumption in conflict and rise in oil prices is therefore a renewed headwind to the franc

◦ GBP/CHF pullbacks therefore expected to be shallow
