    • ◦ Technicals are in control short-term: 1.16 barrier came into play on Monday
      ◦ Market was promptly rejected here and the inevitable decline ensued
      ◦ This is the fourth time the pair has failed here in 2026
      ◦ GBP is weighed by falling UK bond yields, which are a response to falling oil prices
      ◦ Downside will be limited as UK inflation will remain above 2.0% target for some time, meaning the Bank of ◦ England can't relax and lower rates
      ◦ Also supportive is the fading political risks associated with Andy Burnham now that he has committed to the UK fiscal rules
