What's Driving GBP/EUR
- ๐ช๐บ 1.1647 looks to be the instructive short-term graphical support
- Pair is rising from a test of that level initiated on approximately five occasions since late July
- Gains to 1.1720 now look likely on a short-term basis
- Note, the exchange rate is in a consolidative phase at present; trendliness is lacking
- Medium-term setup still constructive as rally from Nov. 2025 lows is intact
- Trendline for said rally would only be tested around 1.1580
- That means there's still ample space for current weakness to extend and not threaten the broader uplift
- GBP supported by carry advantage (UK bond yields are higher than in most developed markets)
- Headwind is a potentially poorly received budget on October 28
- However, we don't think PM Burnham will shake the tree and materially impact GBP
