Technical studies suggest the outlook for the Pound against the New Zealand Dollar is positive, but much will depend on this week's cross-party Brexit talks as well as an highly-anticipated Reserve Bank of New Zealand meeting mid-week.

The Pound-to-New Zealand Dollar rate is trading at 1.9389 at the start of the new week after closing about a tenth of a percent lower on Friday, although the market remains within an uptrend that looks set to extend over the coming days.

The Pound is tipped to enjoy a positive tenor against the New Zealand Dollar over coming days in line with an overall constructive short-term technical setup.

The Pound and New Zealand Dollar are vying for the position of worst-performing G10 on a rolling month-on-month basis, and which currency comes out on top at the end of the coming week could well depend on the outcome of UK wage and New Zealand inflation data.

The technical outlook for the Pound-New Zealand Dollar rate is on balance marginally bullish while longer-dated studies suggest the NZ Dollar holds the cards.

The Pound-to-New Zealand-Dollar rate was trading around 1.9212 Monday after rising by a quarter of a percent in the previous week, although studies of the charts suggest a neutral outlook for the days ahead. 

The Pound-to-New-Zealand-Dollar rate was trading around 1.9167 Monday after falling more than one percent in the previous week, although signals coming off the charts increasingly suggest that further losses could be just around the corner for the exchange rate.

The Pound-to-New-Zealand-Dollar rate is to begin trading around 1.9105 Sunday after falling more than -1.5% in the previous week although the outlook for the pair is clouded, given mixed signals coming from the charts. 

The outlook is marginally bullish due to the establishment of a short-term uptrend but the charts are showing mixed signals so the bullish forecast is on the condition that the exchange rate can successfully break above the 1.9542 February 28 highs.

The Pound-to-New-Zealand-Dollar rate is trading at 1.9058 Monday after closing 1.5% higher last week, and remains on course to challenge the January 25 high, which guards the pathway toward the 200-week moving average located around the 1.98 threshold.  

The technical outlook for the Pound vs. the New Zealand Dollar is now bearish, ever since the break below the 1.87 level confirmed the start of a new short-term downtrend.

The strong surge after the pair found support suggests the possibility an uptrend is developing, although, a break above the 1.9426 highs would be required for confirmation and to suggest a continuation to the next upside target at 1.9600.

From a technical perspective the immediate outlook is probably marginally bearish after the big sell-off last week flipped the short-term trend.

The Pound has opened the week softer against the New Zealand Dollar but our technical studies of the GBP/NZD exchange rate suggest it is likely to maintain a positive tone over the short-term.

The Pound is forecast to maintain a bullish trend against the New Zeland Dollar in the near-term, but we are wary the exchange rate capitulates back into the medium-term downtrend that has commanded this pair since August 2018.

The Pound is seen to be in a short-term recovery phase against the New Zealand Dollar but this could well be challenged by political developments now that lawmakers are returning to Westminster.

Short-term technical indicators suggest the Pound is turning more positive against the NZ Dollar which bodes positive for the coming two weeks.

The New Zealand Dollar fell to a December low last week after a slew of dire Chinese economic figures dented investor appetite for so-called risk currencies, and the outlook for the currency could easily deteriorate again this week.

The Pound's rally against the New Zealand Dollar at the start of the new week is small change when contrasted to the recent sell-off.
