Watch: The RBNZ Unveils New Currency Notes
A new set of New Zealand bank notes will be in circulation by October 2015.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand have not issued new notes in 15 years and security features therefore need to be updated remain low. It has been fifteen years since the notes were last upgraded.
“This upgraded Brighter Money will feature improved security features, vibrant imagery and innovative design,” say the RBNZ on their Brighter Money launch site.
Sir Edmund Hillary, Kate Sheppard, Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Apirana Ngata and Lord Rutherford will retain their places on the notes.
