The Dollar was down and out for the count against all major currencies Thursday in an ominous sign of what many to come in the year ahead, according to a range of analyst forecast, many of which envisage the U.S. currency as the big loser from a great, global economic recovery in 2021. 

The New Zealand Dollar struggled against some major currencies Friday but analyst commentary and forecasts suggest it could underperform many for almost the next year as the Kiwi economy is burdened by cumbersome border closures that are set to remain in place until the end of 2021. 

The Euro-to-Dollar exchange rate remains susceptible to short-term losses, especially in the event of a surprise victory by President Donald Trump in November’s election, but Credit Agricole CIB has told clients these declines should be used to implement a “buy on the dip” strategy.

The Rand charged higher alongside the Chinese Yuan and international stock markets on Tuesday but may rise even further before month-end, according to new research from Investec, although Thursday's South African Reserve Bank (SARB) interest rate decision is a risk that could scupper the outperforming currency. 

Currency markets entered a new stage of flux this year amid heightened uncertainty over the global economic outlook, leading major exchange rates to trade within tight ranges thus far in 2019, although analysts at Credit Agricole are confident that a regime change is on the horizon.

Analysts at Crédit Agricole have issued their latest exchange rate forecast tables and fundamental views on the world’s major currencies.
